These are some sites that you may find useful for playing a character from this period in History:

Age of Sail - A livejournal community with links to icons, meta and essays

Wikipedia on the French Revolution - Self explanatory, really, but a good place for checking facts and figures, and probably the best place to find information.

The Pimpernel Phrase Book - A guide to the language of the time, including curses, government organisations, as well as slang terms used by the lower-classes and by revolutionaries. Also full of some very interesting facts.

Historical Locations - Images of the places around at the time in which the game is set, useful for descriptions or photo-posting or both these buildings and also of similar (fictional?) buildings of the same period. Locations in both France and England.

1811 Dictionary of the Vulgar Tongue - On the Gutenberg project a book of slang from around the time period. Very useful for swearwords.

Regency-Era Name Generator – fantastic for English characters.Thank you to [info]innocentmods for finding these.

Regency-Era English Place Generator - English Places for your character to visit/live in/ etc. Thank you to [info]innocentmods for finding these.

French Male Names Generator - French male names, both first and last

French Female Names Generator - The same as above except for women.

Regency Female Dress-Up Doll. Requires Flash Player.

18th Century to 21th Century Currency Converter - Only calculates in Sterling.

Wages in the 18th century - What to pay your servants when!

How to Address the Aristocracy - aristocrats and what to call them.

That link has all kinds of info about Regency era townhomes. The site also has info about clothing for men and women of the time and a glossary of terms used in the era. It's by a romance author, so the information is geared towards regency romance readers.

Just thought it might help someone. :)

Hey, could you please direct me to a site that has period icons of Aishwaraya Rai? I've been browsing through the links you left here and I haven't been able to find any.

Yes, there are a couple of places you will find icons:

http://community.livejournal.com/aishwarya_rai/

And if necessary, we can make some for you if you have any particular images you like.

Also found a great county map from the 1800s! I know it's a bit after our time period, but it should prove useful I think. :)

Map of England and Wales, counties, towns and rivers, between 1864 and 1928.

Sorry to bother again with more "helpful" stuff! But here are some icons of Emilia Fox from the 1995 Pride & Prejudice that I found:

Someone might like to use her as a PB. :)

I'm not too sure who a lot of those people are, but are any of them able to pass for around 17? Thanks!

I don't know myself, are you looking for a male or female PB? That'd make it a bit easier to search through them, or to find some other alternatives?

My lovely co-mod has done a very quick search for you, and has come up with this list! If you'd like a few more suggestions, please feel free to ask!

Charity Wakefield is meant to be seventeen in Sense and sensibility, Jayne Wisener in Sweeny Todd, Clemence Poesy, Carey Mulligan Sally Sparrow in the Blink episode of Doctor Who and also in Northanger Abbey, and Fairuza Balk the icons that Loopily made.

Hope that helps!

Oh excellent! Do you know where to find theme-appropriate icons for Carey Mulligan and Jayne Wisener?

Carey Mulligan (naturally blonde):

If you search through that journal you'll probably find loads more, it's probably the best place to find icons of Ms. Mulligan

Jayne Wisener:

Sorry I haven't found many more of her, you might just want to ask for a second set or do a google search...
